An Amazing Evening with Whole Food Plant Based Experts

As an avid listener of  “The Exam Room Podcast” —a podcast sponsored by the Washington DC based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine —the second I heard they were doing a live podcast here in New York City I bought tickets immediately.  .  The Exam Room is the ultimate vegan podcast that examines vegan nutrition and medical news.   And the sponsoring committee works to promote healthful vegan diets for disease prevention and also works to end the use of animals in education and experiments.  For anyone who wants to listen to it, here is a link to it on Spotify:

Held at the Museum of New York on 104th Street and Fifth Avenue,  the speakers were some of the most influential and well known advocates in the Whole Food Plant Based World.  They had Rip Esselstyn  (who has his own amazing podcast called PlantStrong). Then there was Dr. Neal Barnard who actually heads the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.  Through his and his organization’s efforts and lobbying, the committee  has succeeded in  in helping to bring about major changes in  Federal food policies and laws.   The panel also included Dr. Joel Ostfeld—plant based cardiologist with the Montefiore Medical Group and also Dr. Michelle McMacken who is the Executive Director of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine for NYC Health and Hospitals.

As opposed to listening to a podcast, this was a real “meet and greet” for the first hour and a half where all of the attendees got to introduce themselves to the speakers and to ask questions and voice concerns about their diet.   Truly a “vegan” social event—complete with vegan hors d’oeuvres, “mocktails” and a photo ops.    I didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to get my picture taken alongside Chuck Carroll and Dr. Barnard.  Chuck is on my right and he is the MC/moderator of the podcast who’s affectionately called “The Weight Loss Champion—someone who has successfully  lost over 250 pounds and kept it off.  And on my left is Dr. Barnard (those are real smiles!  Dr. Barnard, just before the picture was taken was joking around with us:

All in all, a great evening and a podcast that is one of the best out there!!!
